First implementations in Russia for the Speedmaster XL 105 and
Suprasetter 74
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) showcased its
range of solutions to over 10,000 visitors and customers at the
Russian trade show Polygraphinter, which took place in Moscow from
October 10-16, 2005. At over 1,000 squaremeter, the Heidelberg
booth was the largest at the fair. "There's been a shift in
mindset in Russia towards high-quality print products,"
explained Bernhard Schreier, CEO at Heidelberg. "We're
delighted to be able to provide solutions that offer high print
quality and sharpen users' competitive edge," he added.
The show saw the unveiling of a project to implement the first
Speedmaster XL 105 six-color press with coating unit in Russia.
This press is currently being installed at the St. Petersburg-based
printshop Polygraphoformlenie Offset XXI Century. The same customer
has also ordered the Diana 114 Pro folder gluer, which means it
will receive a complete packaging printing solution. Another
printshop to order a complete solution was Kella, also from St.
Petersburg, who will have the distinction of being the first
Russian customer to install the Suprasetter 74 CtP platesetter. It
has also ordered a Speedmaster CD 74 eight-color perfecting press
and a POLAR 115 X cutter. "Quite simply, our range of
prepress, press and postpress solutions meet customers'
requirements," says Oleg Krasnoborov, Managing Director of
Heidelberg Russia. As Krasnoborov points out, Computer-to-Plate and
workflow integrations are vital to customers because of their
ability to increase production efficiency.
Heidelberg has been represented in Russia since 1996.
Alongside its headquarters in Moscow, it has 17 sites in all major
cities across the country. In 2000, Heidelberg opened a Print Media
Academy (PMA) in Moscow to promote the training of skilled
printers. To date, over 300 printers have been trained at the
Academy. The PMA is run in conjunction with the Moscow State
University of Graphic Design, which is celebrating its 75th
anniversary this year. To commemorate the occasion, Heidelberg
presented the University with a Prinect Center to enable it to
provide workflow training. Heidelberg has been working closely with
the College for over ten years, whether it be training printers or
sponsoring the museum of printing. To ensure first-rate training,
the PMA and the University are equipped with cutting-edge printing
technologies such as a Primesetter 74, a Printmaster PM 74
four-color press, two Speedmaster SM 52 two-color presses and a
Stahlfolder.
